Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee

North Stainley Sport & Recreation Trust | The Platinum Jubilee Celebrations

In the weeks running up to the weekend, volunteers from the village armed themselves with paintbrushes to touch up the long-closed petrol station. They also spent days making planters, which are now distributed throughout the village to provide a splash of colour over the seasons for years to come. The Trust invested monies into giving the community garden a significant facelift, including new arbours, benches and planting schemes. It has also erected a Jubilee Beacon to be lit as often as possible over the coming decades. The Tour de France Grand Depart 2014 illuminated wheel was also refurbished and moved to a more central location.

James Staveley, Head of North Stainley Estate, commented ‘I’m delighted that the Sport & Recreation Trust have taken the opportunity to use the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee as a chance to invest in the future of our community.” He explained that “ Underpinning the Estate’s 50-year vision for the village is a belief that everything we do today should try to positively impact the futures of both residents and our natural environment. We are excited about the Trust’s support in trying to achieve this.”
