It’s hard to believe that we last wrote to you in January and it’s now Easter.
The Trust has continued to progress on a number of fronts;
- The activities in the Square car park have included paving repairs, tree & hedge pruning including the removal of hedges where appropriate, the planting of hedge saplings & appropriate plants in the peninsulas, the barking of all areas and weed management. The final actions are gravelling the edging areas and repainting the disabled parking bays.
- The Jubilee Garden has been refreshed and re-energised for this year building on the incredible work last year. The garden is open and we encourage you all to use the garden as much as you can. Our ask is that whilst enjoying the garden you take care to avoid walking on the planted areas and take any rubbish or deposits our four legged friends may leave with you. A huge thank you to Raymond for all of his work.
- We have also established a Maintenance Programme for the year including internal & external cleaning as well as decorating at the Village Hall. In addition there are improvements planned to the Jubilee Garden & Recreation Ground fencing & footpaths.
- Finally, the Cricket season begins April 15th and to that end and consistent with prior years the Recreation Ground has begun to be prepared as from April 1st.
As previously communicated the Trust has facilitated bringing a number of Village Stakeholderstogether including The Estate, the Church, the School, the Parish Council, Roseberry Green Management, the Trust and the Cricket Club.
The Stakeholders have met and will continue to meet to discuss how best to work together, understand responsibilities, coordinate activities and work to medium term goals and a longer term vision for the village.
We had planned to host a meeting at the Village Hall on Friday 14th April but we have now agreed to postpone this meeting until June.
The premise for this is that we would like to move from a Trust hosted to a Village Stakeholder hosted meeting and be able to talk more holistically about how we work together, and with the broader community strengthening relationships across the village. Further details of this meeting will be issued in late May.
We would love to see as many of you as possible. Please let us know if you are interested in attending by emailing enquiries@northstainley.org.uk.
Thanks to all of you who said you would attend the meeting as originally planned.
Finally, we wanted to share plans for the Coronation of King Charles III.
In the run up the planters will be refreshed, bunting will again appear in the village and the square lighting will be reintroduced. We’d love you to contribute by putting bunting up and decorating your doors as you all did so well for the Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
We plan to decorate the village on the weekend of Sat April 22nd and if you are able to help please join us at the Village Hall at 10am on the Saturday.
As for the weekend itself on Saturday May 6th you can
- watch the Coronation on the big screen at the Village
- Hall (11.00am), followed by a ‘bring your own picnic
- street party style’ (3.00pm) with games for adults &
- children which we plan to hold outdoors, but we will
- move indoors if needed. In the evening the Cricket Club are hosting a quiz (at 6.30pm) in the Hall and a bar will be available (from 5.30pm).
- this will be followed by the lighting of the beacon.
St Mary’s will have a display of ‘Memories of the last Coronation’ and this will move to the Hall for the Saturday. Please could you send you memories & pictures Glenys Bailey frankandglenys@btconnect.com or Jane Mansell janemansell21@gmail.com
St Mary’s will be holding a service on Sunday May 7th at 11.00am “God Save The King – A Community Celebration for the Coronation” and finally the Cricket Club are playing on the Recreation Ground on Sunday afternoon.
We look forward to seeing you all over the Coronation weekend.
Kind regards, from The Trustees and our friends in the village.
